Lenovo Donates Computers and Tablets to NBHS Academy of Finance Program

Karen Ondrick, Chief Connector, Community Partnerships at Lenovo was in attendance as New Britain High School Academy of Finance (AOF) launched the AOF/Lenovo Scholar Network on November 2.

Now in its third year, the Lenovo Scholar Network pairs the Fortune 500 technology company with the National Academy of Finance (NAF) to help provide high school students with an intensive mobile app design program. Lenovo has donated 15 PCs and 15 tablets – a set for each two-person AOF peer programming team. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab’s App Inventor development tool – used to create Android apps – will provide the students with technical assistance.

Students who complete the project will earn a Lenovo App Scholar badge of distinction and be eligible to compete online in April 2017, as well as share their projects at NAF’s national conference.

The high school’s AOF is designed to introduce students to the basics of entrepreneurship, banking, financial planning, business management, economics and more. The program is part of the NAF’s network of career-themed academies across the U.S.
