Local Vendors and Live Music in the Holiday Spirit at New Britain Museum of American Art
News Brief
Hartford-based singer Nekita Waller will be featured at the New Britain Museum of American Art’s festive First Friday on December 2. December’s First Friday will begin at 5:30 pm at the Museum, at 56 Lexington Street.
Waller, who studied at the Hartt School of Music, is known for her soulful R&B sounds and has opened for renown musicians such as Ruben Studdard and B.B. King. Her music appeals to various musical tastes, performing a combination of pop, classic rock, R&B, and gospel covers. Her performance will be joined by a concert performed by New Britain’s TubaChristmas, an ensemble, composed entirely of tubas and lower brass instruments, conducted by Hartt School graduate Walter Gibson.
December’s First Friday also includes the 6th annual Maker’s Market: Holiday Edition, featuring over twenty-five vendors, including Hartford Prints!, with Heart by Hand and Savor Cookies. There will be jewelry by trendy designers, one-of-a-kind craftworks, organic apothecary goods, and much more.
Admission to First Friday is $10 for NBMAA Members and $15 for non-Members and includes entrance to the Museum’s galleries and special exhibitions, snacks, soft drinks, including the monthly specialty drink of hot chocolate, and entertainment. Beer, wine, and cocktails will be served at a cash bar for $5.
