The test measures a student’s skill attainment in a certain area, such as business, finance, technology or agricultural science. There are approximately 100 questions on each exam. Farley took the exam last spring as a junior.
“I am very grateful for the education that I was able to receive at New Britain High School, ” Farley, who plans to attend Quinnipiac University to begin the process of becoming a doctor. “I wholeheartedly believe that I could not be where I am now without the help and motivation from all my teachers over these four years at NBHS.” Farley’s dream of becoming a neonatologist was born at New Britain High School while she was enrolled in the Health Academy.
Joseph Pinchera, Principal of New Britain High School, has seen first-hand how hard Sarah works and is proud of her for this great accomplishment. “I find it fascinating how mature Sarah is for her age. When I called her to let her know about this amazing accomplishment, she was extremely humble. We are so proud of her.”
Sandra Roche, one of Farley’s teachers, praised her highly. She described her as a sweetheart, saying that she’s a well-rounded kid who goes above and beyond. Roche went on to describe Farley as smart, kind and caring, which is ideal for her goal of becoming a neonatologist.
“The programs offered to students within NBHS provide the opportunity for experiences that encourage many to excel and achieve their goals,” said Farley. “The Health Academy, including the CNA course, has not only allowed me to expand my knowledge on the health sciences, but it has also given me so many great experiences, such as completing my capstone in the Labor and Delivery Unit at the Hospital of Central Connecticut. All that I have learned and experienced while in the Health Academy has really inspired me to one day make my dream of becoming a neonatologist a reality.”
