New Britain Residents Join Inauguration Day Protest in Hartford

New Britain residents will be joining people throughout the region in a protest against the policies of President-Elect Donald Trump on the day of his inauguration.
The Rally, Friday 4:00pm to 9:00pm, is to “demonstrate against the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.”
Organizers of the Rally said on Facebook, that “Mr. Trump’s own words, actions, associations, and even cabinet nominations exhibit his open hostility towards communities of color, immigrant communities, LGBTQ communities, Muslim communities, women, and workers.”
They go on to say, “Join us in Hartford as we rally against a legacy of violence and discrimination. Mr. Trump has made an apparent vow to extend this legacy; we gather on inauguration day to demonstrate our resistance.”
Details of the planned Rally, from the organizers’ Facebook page, include:
- “4:00pm – Gather at Hartford City Hall’s first floor to rally and build with community members (550 Main Street, Hartford)
- 5:00pm – Short march to the Ribicoff Federal Building (450 Main Street, Hartford) where activists will gather for a speak-out and demonstration. The Ribicoff Building houses Connecticut’s federal immigration court and an office of Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE); two entities which exercise violence against immigrant communities.
- 6:00pm – Community celebration at Center for Latino Progress (95 Park Street, Hartford)”
Organizers say that the Rally is being held, “in solidarity with actions in New Haven, Willimantic, and locations throughout the country.
