Chief Mark Carr Scholarship Basketball Tournament on June 24th
The Mark Carr Scholarship Foundation is inviting the community to come to its Charity Basketball Tournament, tomorrow, June 24th, to watch local fire departments and the New Britain Police “battle it out on the basketball court to see who can win!” All proceeds of the event go to scholarships at New Britain High School and Charter Oak College.
The event will be at New Britain High School from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Tickets are $10, with kids ten and under having free admission.
The event will also have activities for kids, including face painting and a fire truck on display. There will also be raffle and door prizes.
The Mark Carr Scholarship Award honors the memory of former New Britain Fire Chief Mark Carr. Carr was dedicated to bringing a high level of competence to the New Britain Fire Department through training, continuous education and fostering community spirit. The scholarship award is designed to continue Chief Carr’s legacy of public service and his passion for continuous learning, and especially to inspire and assist those pursuing education leading to a career in the field of homeland security, emergency management or fire sciences.
