“Back to School Bash” in Walnut Hill Park Aug 23rd
A “Back to School Bash” will be celebrated in Walnut Hill Park on Wednesday, August 23rd. The school district says that, “As parents, students and educators get ready for the first day of school, the school district and city is preparing a celebration to mark students’ return to the classroom.”
The event will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm behind the Music Shell.
The school district says that, at the Back to School Bash, school administrators will be available for students and parents to meet. There will also be inflatables, music, and vendors. A fire truck, the school district’s “Buzzin’ Bistro” and a city public works truck will be available in a “touch-a-truck” area. Whitsons will be serving food at the event.
According to the school district,
Each school will have their own tent and students will check in with their school administrators to receive a free meal ticket and a passport activity card, which will be used for a raffle drawing. Instead of giving away backpacks and school supplies to the first few hundred people, students will be asked to visit at least five vendor booths. Once their passport has been filled with stickers from the vendors, they will return the passport to their school tent and will be entered into a raffle at their school for backpacks and other supplies.
The event is a collaboration of the school district, city Parks and Recreation and Whitsons Culinary Group.
