Democratic and Republican City Election Candidates for 2017
With Autumn just around the corner, election season will be coming into full swing. The Democratic Party and the Republican Party have both put forward their slates for the city elections on November 7th.
For Mayor, the candidates are:

The City Council (officially called the “Common Council”) consists of fifteen members (called “Aldermen” and “Alderwomen”) elected in two different ways.
Five of the City Council members are elected citywide, or “At-Large”. For City Council At Large, the candidates are:

Each voter in the city can vote for up to five candidates for At-Large Council member and the top five are elected.
Ten of the Council members are elected from five City Council “Wards”.  Each Ward represents certain neighborhoods of the city. The voters in each Ward elect two Council members to represent them. In each Ward each voter can vote for two candidates and the top two are elected.

Each voter can vote for three candidates and the top five are elected.
For Board of Assessment Appeals, the candidates are:

Each voter can vote for two candidates and the top three are elected. The Board of Assessment Appeals is responsible for hearing people’s appeals of their property tax assessments.

Each voter can vote for four candidates and the top eight are elected. As a result, all of the candidates nominated as constables by the Democratic and Republican parties are elected.
