School District to Have Staff on School Buses for Preschool Kids as School Begins Monday, Aug 28th
“The safety of our little ones is one of our highest priorities,” said Superintendent Nancy Sarra, as the school district announced that it is assigning twenty-one central office staff to ride school buses on Monday and Tuesday of the first week of school to ensure that preschool children arrive safety at school and back with their parents or guardians at the end of the school day.
The school district says that,
On Monday and Tuesday, staff members from Central Office have been assigned to ride a school bus throughout the day. Staff will greet the preschool student and their parent/guardian at the bus stop and will identify the child by name while giving them their name tag. The student will board the bus with the staff member and will be under their direct supervision on the way to school.
The staff member will ensure that the student arrives safely at their school and will be there at the end of the school day as the student boards the bus to go back home. Upon arrival at the bus stop at the end of the day, the staff member will escort the student off the bus and hand over care to the parent/guardian.
School will begin in New Britain on Monday, August 28th.
Sarra added, “We are ensuring that every preschool student riding the bus is safely brought to school and back home. Additionally, giving our families that peace of mind knowing that their child is being taken care of goes a long way on the first few days of school.”
The school district invites parents and guardians with questions regarding school transportation to call the school district’s transportation department at 860-827-2239 on Saturday, August 26th from 9:00am to 3:30pm or, later Saturday or Sunday, through its Facebook page.
