Talisha Foy Named Principal of Northend school
Talisha Foy, an educator at the Waterbury Public Schools since 2006, has been named as the Principal of the Northend Elementary School.
“I am extremely excited about becoming a part of the CSDNB family and look forward to working closely with the wonderful students, families and staff at Northend Elementary School,” said Foy.
Foy assumes the leadership position held by Dr. Nicole Sanders, who was recently promoted to be the Assistant Chief Talent Officer for the district. Superintendent Nancy Sarra said, “We’re excited to bring Talisha on board to continue the work that Dr. Sanders began four years ago at Northend Elementary School.”
Foy’s Bachelor’s Degree is from Central Connecticut State University, in Business/Marketing. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education/Grades K-6 from the University of Bridgeport and an 092 Intermediate Administrator Certificate – Sixth Year-Advanced Study in Administration from Sacred Heart University.
From 2006 to 2013, Foy was a fourth and fifth grade teacher. She was sixth grade teacher from 2013 to 2014. She was recently an administrator for the 21st Century Summer Enrichment Program and Supervising Vice Principal at Gilmartin Elementary School. She has also been the Supervising Vice Principal at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School and Rotella Inter-District Magnet School.
Foy was named teacher of the year at Walsh School in 2009 and, in 2016, received the Woman of Virtue Award from the NAACP.
“My goal is to provide a platform for all students to actively learn and succeed academically, emotionally and socially while preparing them to become conscientious citizens of the future,” said Foy
“She’s going to be hitting the ground running as we prepare for the first day of school on Monday. Her style and all-in attitude will make for a seamless transition for our Northend students and families.”
The 2017 to 2018 school year begins in New Britain on Monday, August 28th.
