New Britain Social Club Organizing Hurricane Relief for Caribbean Islands
The New Britain Social Club is organizing relief donations for people living on islands that were devastated by Hurricane Maria. Numerous Caribbean islands were hard hit by the storm. Dominica and St. Croix were directly in the path of the storm and suffered significant harm.
The New Britain Social Club, a vibrant West Indian cultural society at 145 North Street, will be accepting donations Monday, October 2nd though through Friday, October 6th, next week. Donations may be dropped off at any time after 5:00pm at the Club.
Jessica Angelo-Julien says that the New Britain Social Club “is welcoming any and all donations that the community can offer. We will open our doors next week all week after 5 p.m. The Hartford armory will assist us in getting the items to the islands most in need. There is a call for tools, hammers, nails in the rebuilding effort.”
In addition, the Club is seeking donations of shipping barrels to facilitate the shipment of donations.
