NBHS Baseball Players and Coach Selected for International Goodwill Series
Two New Britain High School baseball players have been selected to play in the International Goodwill Series in Adelaide, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand, starting on December 21st. William Homar and Danniel Rivera will play for the American Team.
The players will be joined by New Britain’s Head Coach Roberto Mercado. Mercado is part of the coaching staff for the American team.
“I’m proud of William and Danniel being selected to play in the Goodwill Series,” Mercado said. “They are a great representation of the outstanding talent that New Britain High School has to offer.”
In the Goodwill Series, players age 14 to 18 with the potential to play in the major league or at the college level, are chosen to play in an international baseball series. The Goodwill Series website says that,
December 21, 2017 – Goodwill Series Teams will travel to Adelaide, Australia. Pro scouts will be the Coaches. Each team will play 12 games against the “strong” South Australia STATE teams. Australia is now ranked #7 in the World. December 30, the Goodwill Series teams will travel to Auckland, New Zealand for a Goodwill Series with the National Team of New Zealand.
“Having two young exceptional baseball players like William and Danniel represent New Britain High School is a proud moment for all of us here at the school,” said NBHS Principal Joseph Pinchera. “We wish them and Coach Mercado the best of luck on their trip down under!”
