Two Jr Canes Teams to Play for 2017 State Championships
Two Jr. Canes football teams will be playing for State Championships in upcoming games, after winning their semi-final playoff games.
The 9U team advanced in their semi-final game, winning 35 to 0 against East Hartford. They will play their Division 1 game on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 9:00am against Bridgeport, who advanced by winning their game against Norwalk 20 to 0.
The 9U Jr. Canes finished their regular season with an 8 – 0 record, having scored 191 points in favor with 31 points against.
The 12U team will play their Division 1 game against Bridgeport on Sunday, November 12th at 2:00pm. The Jr. Canes advanced after winning 12 to 6 against Springfield in their semi-final game. Bridgeport won 6 to 0 against Hartford.
The Jr. Canes 12U team finished their regular season with a 7 – 1 record, and a points advantage of 242 points for and 17 against.
Both Connecticut Youth Football & Cheer Conference championship games will be held at Falcon Field at 200 Westfield Street in Meriden. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 student/senior, while children 2 and under are admitted free.
Jr. Canes football is a program of New Britain Youth Football & Cheer, Inc. The organization’s Facebook site says,
New Britain Youth Football & Cheer, Inc. is a not for profit organization formed to provide children living in the community the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of sports. The program provides selected athletic activities for children ages 5 through 13 in grades K through 8. We have won the state and regional championships for the past 6 years and have earned the right to compete in Florida at the AYF National tournament! We hope to take the title again this year.
