“Annie Jr”at the New Britain Youth Theater Dec 8th, 9th and 10th
Over fifty children, ages five through eighteen are starring in the New Britain Youth Theater production of “Annie Jr”. The play is based on the comic strip that debuted in 1924 and the Broadway production from 1977.
Billed as “the World’s Favorite Family Musical””, “Annie Jr” tells the story of the young orphan Annie who is brought from her orphanage to spend Christmas with New York billionaire Oliver Warbucks for a life-changing experience.
The cast will sing favorite songs from the celebrated musical, such as “Tomorrow,” “It’s Hard Knock Life,” “Easy Street,” and “I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here”.
The New Britain Youth Theater’s Darren Farrington said, “Our youngest cast members play orphans and also newsies and apple sellers on the streets, and older children are the staff at Oliver Warbuck’s mansion and other New Yorkers at the orphanage, movie theater, radio station, and streets of New York.” The “junior” version of the musical, the Theater says, is slightly adapted for young actors and audience.
The play is directed by Farrington, music is directed by Angela Klimaytis and the play is choreographed by Chelsea Derby.
