Northend Elementary Students Collect Food Pantry Donations
Students at Northend Elementary School collected food donations during the month of November, 2017 to benefit people in need in the community. The nearly 1,000 items of non-perishable food were collected for the work of the Osgood Avenue Food Pantry.
The food drive was organized by teachers Jennifer Welch and Dawn Mitchell.
The Consolidated School District of New Britain announced the successful charitable collection by the Northend community and the results of a little friendly competition among classes at the school.
Ms. Erin Delaney’s fifth grade class took the top spot with 276 total food items. Ms. Welch’s kindergarten class came in second place with 248 items collected, and Miss Sara Normandin’s third grade class came in a respectable third place with 120 total items.
Northend Elementary School is a neighborhood school in New Britain’s Willow Brook area and is led by Principal Talisha Foy.
