Martin Luther King Day Celebration in New Britain, Jan 15th
New Britain will honor the memory of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and celebrate the civil rights movement on Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 15, 2018.
The City Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities will hold its annual event honoring Dr. King at Trinity-On-Main at 69 Main Street. The event will begin with light refreshments at 10:30am, with a program at 11:00am, followed by the wreath laying ceremony at 12:00noon.
The Mary McLeod Bethune Club, New Britain Chapter, will host the Annual City-Wide Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration at 1:00pm. The Guest Speaker will be Mr. James Jones, the Dean of Students at Slade Middle School.
The City-Wide Celebration, themed, “MLK50 – Forward – Together We Win With Love for Humanity,” will be held at Spottswood AME Zion Church, at 25 Crestwood Lane.
