North Oak NRZ to Hold Community Clean-Up Apr 21st
The North Oak NRZ has announced that it will hold its second Community Clean-Up on April 21, 2018.
The North Oak NRZ (Neighborhood Revitalization Zone) has been active in organizing the community in its neighborhood to come together to improve the quality of life. The NRZ is working with the New Britain Police Department, Central Connecticut State University, the city and Neighborhood Housing Services of New Britain (NHSNB) to organize the Clean-Up.
The NRZ says that they are celebrating the North Oak Neighborhood by sharing breakfast, cleaning up trash, planting flowers and building a strong community.
People participating in the Clean-Up will meet at the North Oak Police Substation, which is at 99 Oak Street.
The neighborhood Clean-Up event will be from 8:30am to 12:00pm. A continental breakfast sponsored by CCSU will be available at 8:30am.
The NRZ says that a, “A $5.00 gift card to McDonalds will be given to the first 30 children/teens who attend,” adding that certificates of participation will be available for students at New Britain schools signed by Chief Wardwell and NRZ President Marie Bachand. The North Oak NRZ has a parental permission form for children who will be participating on its Facebook page. The NRZ says, “Register at your school or call 860-839-1757.”
The NRZ also says that, “All children & teens who participate will receive a free ticket to the June 9th New Britain Bees game, where you can all sit the same section and enjoy the firework show! The first 50 kids to come that day and sign up and clean will get a free NB Bee’s Kickball donated by NHSNB. Sting, the mascot, will make an appearance for pictures and autographs.”
“Free flower seeds for all in the neighborhood willing to plant them so they can be seen from the street,” says the NRZ. “Seeds provided by New Britain Roots.”
“This cleanup will be in memory of fallen FBI Agent Samuel Hicks,” the NRZ says. “He was a young man dedicated to this country, and a great inspiration to the youth!”
