Former NBHS Associate Principal Damon Pearce Returns As Principal
At a special meeting on June 20, 2018, the Board of Education approved the Suffield Middle School Principal Damon Pearce as the next Principal of New Britain High School.
Pearce returns after having been Associate Principal at NBHS from 2005-2014.
Board of Education President Nicole Rodriguez (D) said that she is pleased that the process for selecting NBHS’s new principal, “has been a long and fruitful process that has been focused on our community and on New Britain. The Board is pleased with the results and we are looking forward to seeing Pearce build an environment of stability and positivity at NBHS.”
At its June 20th meeting, held at NBHS, the Board received the recommendation from Superintendent of Schools Nancy Sarra that Pearce be appointed to lead NBHS. Speaking about his belief that all students can succeed, she said, “That is very important to me because everyone has the potential to be great. I am thrilled that he has agreed to be a part of our team.”
Pearce holds a Bachelor’s degree in history and a Master’s degree in education from the University of Connecticut, and a Sixth Year Educational Leadership certificate from Central Connecticut State University. He has been a teacher in the Glastonbury and East Hartford school systems, teaching middle and high school history.
Pearce will assume the leadership of NBHS this summer, ahead of the 2018-2019 school year.
