New Britain’s 2018 Dożynki festival will be held on August 25th and 26th.
“Join us for the 38th annual Polish Harvest Festival in New Britain,” says the event organizers, “a beautiful and festive tradition to give thanks and celebrate all things Polish!”
Dożynki is the traditional Polish harvest celebration, giving thanks for a bountiful harvest.
New Britain is widely recognized as one of the key centers of Polish culture in the United States, and people travel from across Connecticut and the larger region to attend cultural events in New Britain and visit Little Poland on Broad Street.
The festival begins with the celebration of Mass at 11:00am on Saturday, the 25th. Opening ceremonies follow the Mass, followed by a vibrant celebration of Polish culture.
Food, music, dancing and community celebration continue through Saturday, the 25th, 10:00am to 10:00pm and Sunday, the 26th, 12:00pm to 10:00pm.
The Dożynki festival is held at Falcon Field at 721 Farmington Avenue in New Britain.
