The 2018 Unity in the Community Cookout was celebrated on September 29th, with food, music, games and prayer.
Participants in the festival were blessed, for the second year in a row, with summer-like weather for the late September event.
The Unity in the Community Cookout is a celebration of African American culture and community, organized to bring people together in fellowship and friendship.
Members of at least four local churches participated in the event, at A.W. Stanley Park.
The weather provided a relaxing setting for people to share conversation and card games. Meanwhile, adults lead young people in games and activities.
The annual Cookout is organized by the Unity in the Community Committee.
