Velveteen Rabbit at Youth Theater

Young actors will perform an original adaptation of the classic story, The Velveteen Rabbit, in three performances in December.

Twenty-two children and youth, from ages six to sixteen star in the production by the No Boundaries Youth Theater (NBYT).

The young people have been preparing for their performance since their auditions for the play in September.

The Theater says, the play is, “the story of a toy rabbit who longs for nothing more than to be real,” adding that,

this magical story explores themes of friendship, love, and overcoming insecurity—all coming to life in a world with plenty of talking toys, a magical nursery fairy, real rabbits, one very real boy, and many others!

NBYT Musical Director and Teaching Artist Angela Klimaytis wrote the script, music, and lyrics of the play, based on the classic children’s book, The Velveteen Rabbit or How Toys Become Real, by Margery Williams.

Angela Klimaytis directs the play and choreography is by Chelsea Derby.

The production of the play is sponsored by the  Community Foundation of Greater New Britain.

The play will be performed on:

  • Friday, December 7, 2018 at 7:00pm
  • Saturday, December 8th, at 7:00pm, and
  • Sunday, December 9th, at 2:00pm.

The performances will be at Holmes Elementary School. The Holmes School is located at 2150 Stanley Street.

Ticket prices are $13 for adults and $11 for children, students and seniors.

NBYT says that tickets can be reserved by phone at  860-515-8115. Tickets may also be purchased online at the Theater’s website at www.nbyt.com.
