The generosity of volunteers and donors and the work of Foodshare came to fruition, delivering food to people in need just in time for Thanksgiving.

Ald. Iris Sanchez (D-3), Ald. Francisco Santiago (D-5), activist Antonio C. Lavoy, Sr. and other volunteers helped distribute food at New Britain’s Malikowski Circle.

The food delivery at Malikowski Circle was a regular delivery as part of Foodshare’s efforts to bring donations of food to people in need. But this delivery came just in time for Thanksgiving.

This past weekend, on November 17th and 18th, community volunteers organized by City Treasurer Ron Jakubowski held a Foodshare Turkey drive at the New Britain Costco.

The New Britain turkey drive was a part of a successful effort by Foodshare to supply Thankgiving meals to thousands of people in need this year.

Jason Jakubowski, who is the President and CEO of Foodshare, said that the effort successfully collected 15,621 turkeys for families in the Greater Hartford area.
