“Little Women” at Repertory Theatre
The New Britain-based Connecticut Theatre Company is presenting a musical production of Little Women. The play is a based on the renown novel by Louisa May Alcott.
Little Women opens at the Repertory Theatre of New Britain on Friday, November 30, 2018.
The Connecticut Theatre Company says,
Based on Louisa May Alcott’s life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she has to do better and write more from herself. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America. The powerful score soars with the sounds of personal discovery, heartache and hope – the sounds of a young America finding its voice.
“Little Women is a beautiful story that’s perfect for the holidays,” says the play’s director, Duane Campbell, ” as many of us gather around our families and reflect upon our many blessings.”
Jessica Irizarry stars as “Jo March”, joined by Sabrina Reed as “Meg March,” Remy McCoy as “Amy March” and New Britain resident Kristen Norris as “Beth March.”
The play’s cast includes New Britain residents Erin Campbell in the role of “Aunt March” and Steven Michelsson as “Laurie Laurence.” Actors from other Connecticut towns include Susan Hilerio as “Marmee,” Keith Nelson as “Mr. Laurence,” Travis Karas as “Professor Bhaer” and Doug McCarthy as “Mr. John Brooke”.
