Streetscape Public Information Meeting Planned
The city Department of Public Works has announced a public information session on an upcoming phase of the downtown streetscape construction project.
The Public Works announcement says that, “Residents, business owners, commuters, and other interested individuals are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss this project in the City of New Britain.”
“This project will make Complete Street Improvements to Myrtle Street and East Main Street, between Washington Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard,” said City Engineer Robert Trottier in letter to area property owners. “The improvements include the reconstruction of East Main Street between Martin Luther King Boulevard and Main Street and milling and paving Myrtle Street between Main Street and Washington Street.”
Trottier says that, “Based upon preliminary assessment, the construction cost will be approximately $3.37M. The State of Connecticut will provide approximately 100% of the construction costs for this project under the Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program (LoTCIP).”
The public meeting is to be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019. It will be at City Hall at 27 West Main Street in Room 501.
The meeting is planned to begin at 6:00pm.
