Rebuilding Together has been active in New Britain for decades, with many people volunteering to improve the lives of people in need across the city each April.
Rebuilding Together New Britain says that it, “is a local affiliate of Rebuilding Together, which has over 100 affiliates nationwide.” It says that, in its National Rebuilding Day, “Held annually on the last Saturday in April, thousands of volunteers across the country participate in rebuilding and rehabilitating hundreds of homes and nonprofit facilities in various communities.”
“In New Britain,” the organization says, “Rebuilding Day involves hundreds of volunteers from neighborhood businesses and organizations coming together with support from local and national sponsors to rebuild 10-15 homes in a single day.”
The 2019 National Rebuilding Day is scheduled for April 27th this year.
The annual program takes the work of many people pitching in to help. “Skilled volunteers and volunteer groups are also needed for our projects,” the organization says.
On its website, Rebuilding Together says that, “Volunteers delivering free services on National Rebuilding Day is our core initiative and our common denominator, along with the cost-effective leveraging of donated materials, supplies and labor.”
On Rebuilding Day, volunteers of different skills pitch in. While many provide skilled construction and mechanical work, others pitch-in doing things like painting or mowing.
The organization has information on how to get involved on its website, saying, “We welcome all individuals and groups of volunteers no matter the group size, skill level, or desired time commitment.”
The organization says that, “Though we are best known for our Spring Rebuilding Day, RTNB has offered year-round programming since 2005,” through its “Safe at Home” program.
On its website, Rebuilding Together says that, “Our mission is repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives.”
