North-Oak NRZ to Hold Elections
The North-Oak NRZ, the neighborhood organization for the North and Oak Streets area, has announced that it will hold its 2019 elections on February 28th.
The North Oak Neighborhood Revitalization Zone (NRZ) says that the organization, “is a group of residents, businesses, and nonprofits that work together with the city to revitalize the community.”
The NRZ is a community organization, formed under state law, that is committed to the social and economic progress in the North-Oak neighborhood.
The meeting for the elections will start at 7:00pm. It will be held at St. Ann Church. The St. Ann Church is at 47 Clark Street.
The positions to be elected are President, Vice President, Secretary, Housing Chair, Public Safety Chair, Human Services Chair and Economic Development Chair.
The NRZ says that, “To be eligible to vote, a person must live in, work in, or own a business or property in the North Oak NRZ, which is bordered by the following streets, clockwise: Allen, Dixon, Milton, Lorraine, Long, Stanley, Martin Luther King Jr., Winter, Clark, Lee, Main, North, Sexton, and McClintock.”
The NRZ generally meets monthly, allowing area residents and others involved in the neighborhood to discuss neighborhood concerns, like blighted buildings and crime, and to work together to advocate for activities and the well being of area children.
