Thank you to the New Britain Fire Department, Fire Chief Raul Ortiz and all the firefighters who were out this past Saturday morning working hard to help my neighbors with the installation of smoke alarms in my neighborhood. I spoke to some of my neighbors and they very much appreciated the installation of the alarms. My Mom also thanks you for the two new smoke alarms in our home replacing the ones we had. Thank you for all that you do each and every day for all our residents.

The U.S. Fire Administration says that a smoke detector should be in every bedroom and that smoke alarms should be tested monthly, pointing out that, “Half of home fire deaths happen between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., when most people are asleep.”
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has also pointed out, “the simple life-saving habit of changing the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Change the batteries when you change your clock!” at the start of Daylight Savings Time.
