NBHS Boys Basketball 2nd Place – Waterford Wins Final 63-56
The New Britain High School Boys basketball team are the second place Division II team in the state after first ranked Waterford won the Championship Game.
The sixth ranked NBHS team came eight points away from a state championship on March 17, 2019 after winning four rounds of tournament play.
“So proud of our boys for advancing to the state championship, you made our city proud! Thank you for a great season!!” the NBHS Golden Hurricanes’ said on Twitter.
NBHS defeated E.O. Smith in the first round 71-47. They prevailed over Crosby 75-60 in the second round.
In the quarterfinal, NBHS defeated Wilton 64-63, and they won their semifinal game against Glastonbury 56-53.
In the final three rounds of the tournament, sixth ranked NBHS played against higher ranked teams. Wilton was ranked third and Glastonbury was the second ranked team.
NBHS then faced the first ranked team in the final, with Waterford winning 63-56.
But the NBHS boys basketball team ended an exciting season with a statewide second place in the CIAC Division II.
