East Side Cleanup & Block Party Rescheduled
The East Side Cleanup and Block Party to be held at the East Side Community Center has been rescheduled to May 3, 2019.
The event, originally scheduled for April 26th, was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
Event organizers say,
Join us on Friday, May 3rd at the East Street Community Center for an East Side community clean-up, followed by a lively Block Party, Photovoice presentation by the House of Teens students, and family-friendly activities. Food will be provided for all volunteers who participate in the clean-up. The first 100 volunteers will receive an event T-shirt!
The event is to include neighborhood beautification, a street-art mural and a neighborhood meet and greet. There are to be food trucks, local businesses selling their products and music by Hot 93.7 and DJ Nunez.
According to event organizers, activities are also to include,
- Gardening Activity with New Britain Roots
- Free Health Screenings with CCSU Nursing
- Fire Department free smoke detectors & touch-a-truck
- Police Department touch-a-truck
- Bounce House & Other Family Activities
The event is to start with registration at 2:30pm. From 3:00pm to 4:00pm will be the neighborhood clean-up. The block party is to be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

New Britain Hurricanes Youth Football & Cheerleading has also announced that it is organizing volunteers to participate in the East Side Clean-Up and Block Party. The Jr Canes Community Service Team has an online sign up form for interested volunteers to sign up.
The East Side Community Center, where this event is to be held, is located at 600 East Street.
The East Side Community Center is a program of the YWCA of New Britain.
