Jr. Canes Registering for Upcoming Season

The New Britain Jr. Canes are holding their 2019 Open Registrations for football, cheerleading and dance in preparation for its upcoming season.

“Come join on he top programs in New England,” the Jr. Hurricanes say. The organization cites forty-seven championships, including twenty-five football championships, nineteen cheerleading championships, seven dance championships, nine New England regional championships, the 2016 2nd Place National Championship and the 2012 Cheer National Championship.

The two final early registration dates are May 8, 2019 and May 22nd. Registration on both dates is to 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the upper gym at New Britain High School at 110 Mill Street.

The Jr. Canes has various programs including:

  • Division 1 flag football, ages four to five.
  • Division 2 flag football, ages six to seven.
  • Girls flag football, ages six to seven.
  • Tiny Cheer, ages four to seven.
  • Cheerleading, ages eight to twelve.
  • Co-ed dance, ages eleven to fourteen.
  • Tackle football, ages eight to thirteen.

As of May 6th, the Jr. Canes’ said the registration for age eleven is closed.

The Jr. Canes say that registration is $125 for football, cheerleading and dance and $30 for flag football and tiny cheer. The Jr. Canes say that the registration fee increases by $25 after June 1st and that, “All participants will be required to sell 10 raffle tickets as part of our annual fundraiser (or pay an opt-out at registration.”

New Britain Youth Football & Cheer, Inc., the official name of the Jr. Canes organization, says that it is,

a not for profit organization formed to provide children living in the community the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of sports. The primary goal is to develop young men and women; who through participation in the program; will progress into New Britain High School football and cheerleading program creating a feeder system that will focus on the student-athlete as a whole and produce successful community contributors as well as fundamentally sound athletes.

The New Britain Jr. Canes is a part of the Connecticut Youth Football & Cheer League and American Youth Football.
