Proposal for HUD Funds Reports
A proposal introduced in the City Council would require the city Department of Community Development to report to the Council on the city use of HUD funds.
The proposal, introduced by Ald. Francisco Santiago (D-5) concerns the city department that is charged with the funds allocated to the city by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The proposed ordinance (local law) would require the Department to, “report to the Common Council on a monthly basis all financial and contractual transactions that transpire during each preceding month.”
The new ordinance would also require that, “The department shall also report to the Common Council all filings submitted to State and Federal Government within one week of when the filing is submitted to the appropriate agency.”
The proposal was referred by the Council to its Committee on Planning, Zoning and Housing at the Council’s May 22, 2019 meeting.
Ordinance proposals are presented for a public hearing in committee, and can later be reported back to the full Council for final approval.
