NBHS Football to Hold Fundraiser
The New Britain High School Golden Hurricanes Football is inviting the community help raise funds to purchase new equipment for the team.
Head Coach Tebucky Jones says that, “Recent medical studies have revealed concussions are very prominent in high school football. In our program, we are faced with budget constraints, but we are totally compliant with meeting the standards set for player safety.”
“Unfortunately,” says Coach Jones, “our budget for the 2019 football season is only $4,000. The purpose of my golf tournament is to raise enough money to fund new helmets and shoulder pads for our players that meet the highest standards of safety for those playing the game.”
Jones says that it will cost approximately $36,000 to fit the entire team with the equipment that he is proposing to meet those standards of safety.
To raise funds, New Britain Football is holding a golf tournament on June 9, 2019. The Tournament will be held at the Tunxis Country Club at 87 Town Farm Road in Farmington.
Registration for the tournament and lunch is at 12:00pm. Golfing begins at 1:30pm. The steak dinner is at 6:00pm.
The event is $600 for a foursome, $150 per individual golfer or $50 for the steak dinner only. Sponsorships at the tournament include $100 for a tee sponsor, $500 for a putting green sponsor, $1,000 for corporate sponsorship and $2,500 Tournament Sponsor.
While the tournament is limited to 144 participants, as of May 21st, event organizers said that there is, “Still time to golf.”
Monetary donations are also encouraged by event organizers, and there a GoFundMe site organized by Bob Scalise to raise funds for the tournament.
More information and the tournament sign up form is available at on the New Britain Football website. There is also a website for online registration for the tournament.
