NRZ Seeks City Help to Get Donations to Fire Victims
North-Oak Neighborhood Revitalization Zone leaders say that they have been seeking promised assistance from City Hall in getting donations to people displaced by the Allen Street fire.
The NRZ conducted a volunteer donation drive in the wake of some twenty-five families being displaced by the May fire at the Springwood Gardens Apartments building on Allen Street.
The call for donations brought both supplies and money, given to help the families affected by the fire.
The NRZ says that it is working to get the supplies and funds to the people who need it most, something that requires the help of City Hall, officials of which have the names and contact information of the families.
Leaders of the NRZ say that they are hoping City Hall officials will reply to their request to follow through with help that was previously promised to get the donations to families affected by the fire.
NRZ leaders say that they have been trying to get a response from the city for days, contacting different officials. As of Tuesday evening, they still said they they are waiting.
The North-Oak Neighborhood Revitalization Zone (NRZ), with activist leadership and members, have organized many volunteer activities for the benefit of the neighborhood. The North Oak NRZ is a community organization, formed under state law, that is committed to the social and economic progress in the North-Oak neighborhood.
