Sanchez Holds Education Forum
State Representative Bobby Sanchez (D-25) held a forum recently to discuss education issues with people in the New Britain community.
Sanchez is the Chair of the state legislature’s important Education Committee.
Sanchez had invited the New Britain community to join him and other local officials, “to learn about the new laws going into effect and how changes will impact the New Britain education system.”
The legislature’s website says the Education Committee, led on the part of the state House of Representatives by Sanchez, is responsible for, “all matters relating to the Department of Education; local and regional boards of education and the substantive law of collective bargaining covering teachers and professional employees of such boards; vocational rehabilitation; the Commission on the Arts; and libraries, museums and historical and cultural associations.”
“State budget facts-over $4.1 million in ECS funding for upcoming school year,” Sanchez has said discussing state aid that the legislature approved for New Britain schools, “and another $4.1 million the following year.”
The education forum was held on July 9, 2019.
It was held in the Dr. Anthony J. Tercyak Lecture Hall in New Britain High School.
Dr. Tercyak was a longtime educator and was the State Representative for the Twenty-Sixth Assembly District in New Britain, now represented by his son, Rep. Peter Tercyak (D-26).
