Progressive Panel Hosted by ‘Our Revolution’
A Progressive Panel discussion hosted by the Central Connecticut chapter of the group, ‘Our Revolution,’ will feature four speakers.
“The discussion will center on where we are in the progressive movement,” says the organization, “where we need to go, and what we can do in our state and in our communities to advocate for a more equal and fair society.”
The event will be on Thursday September 5, 2019 at the New Britain Public Library. The Library is at 20 High Street.
The event is from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
State Representative Peter Tercyak (D-26) will be a member of the panel. Tercyak represents neighborhoods in New Britain in the state House of Representatives. He is an Assistant Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and has served as the Chair of the legislative Labor Committee. His official biography says that he,
was raised in New Britain from the age of two, graduating from Holy Cross and St. Thomas Aquinas. He also attended high school in Warsaw, Poland.
Peter was first involved in health care through volunteering at the Veterans’ Hospital in Newington. With degrees from UConn and Capital Community College, he became a registered nurse and almost 30-year career has cared for thousands of patients with psychiatric and substance abuse problems. Now, he does home care nursing.
Raised with a strong belief in the importance of activism and community service, Peter has worked on campaigns to reform managed care, provide job security and crack down on the rising cost of prescription drugs. In addition, Peter worked on his father’s campaigns for the 26th House District, elections for the New Britain Board of Education, governor and many others.
Our Revolution Central Connecticut says that other panelists include Mitchel Kvedar, “Communications Director of the Connecticut College Democrats, climate change activist and former Chief of Staff of Governor Lamont’s Transition Committee on Energy Policy,” Eva Zimmerman a, “2018 candidate for Lt. Governor, union activist, and a plaintiff in the landmark Sheff v. O’Neill school desegregation case,” and Eli Sabin, a “candidate for New Haven Board of Alders Ward 1 and first director of the legislative Progressive Caucus.”
The organization says that, “this will be a great opportunity to hear from people who are involved in the progressive movement,” adding that, “Everyone is welcome to attend.”
Our Revolution is a nonprofit organization born out of the 2016 presidential campaign of Bernie Sanders.
