Community Forum by CCSU Student Government
The Central Connecticut State University Student Government Association has announced that it is host its first “New Britain Community Leader Forum.”
The Student Government Announced that the speakers at the first Forum are to include Deivone Tanksley, Johnny Turner, Derrick Molden, Tyree Hughey, Stephan Palmer, and Timothy Conaway.
Democratic Mayoral candidate Chris Porcher will also be a part of the Forum.
The Forum is to be held on October 7, 2019 at 6:00pm. It is being held in the Founders Hall room in the Davidson Hall building on the campus of CCSU.
The organization, consisting of students elected to represent the students at CCSU, says that it is holding the forum to, “discuss the major issues that the City of New Britain is currently facing, such as violence/high crime rates, an under-funded school system, homelessness, and economic development/job creation.”
The Student Government Association (SGA), says that the forum is also to, “talk about how students at CCSU can get more involved in the local communities of New Britain as well as their own communities back home.”
The SGA says that it, “is committed to the goal of building a relationship between the student body and the City of New Britain, as well as encouraging students to exercise their political rights and be proactive citizens.”
The organization adds, “This event is open to the public, with free food and drinks provided for guests.”
CCSU is located at 1615 Stanley Street.
