The 11U Jr Canes football team has won their way to the National Championships and New Britain Youth Football and Cheer is raising funds to send them there.
“The team is raising funds to help with travel expenses to compete at the American Youth Football National Championships held in Florida!!” says New Britain Youth Football and Cheer. “Traveling to nationals is a wonderful experience for the kids! In order to represent our Community we are raising funds to help lower travel expenses. The money is necessary to cover travel accommodations and meals.”
The organization has set up a GoFundMe site (gofundme.com/f/help-new-britain-jr-11u-canes) to help raise funds for the Championship trip.
That site lauds this class of young athletes’ accomplishments, saying,
From age 8, age 9, age 10 and now age 11; Four Undefeated Seasons, Four CTYFC State Champions, & All-Star Champions!! Not only are they recognized for their accomplishments but also for the community service through out internal and external communities!! These players have a bond that is more than family love!!

Meanwhile, the Jr Canes 10U team is completing in the New England Regional Semifinals against Worchester.
That game is to be today, November 16, 2019, at 10:00am at Waterbury Municipal Stadium. The stadium is located at 1200 Watertown Avenue in Waterbury.
“Gate Fee $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students, seniors, vets and $3.00 for players and cheerleaders not playing. Wear your jersey,” the Jr Canes organization says.
New Britain Youth Football & Cheer, Inc., the official name of the Jr. Canes organization, has said that it is,
a not for profit organization formed to provide children living in the community the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of sports. The primary goal is to develop young men and women; who through participation in the program; will progress into New Britain High School football and cheerleading program creating a feeder system that will focus on the student-athlete as a whole and produce successful community contributors as well as fundamentally sound athletes.
The New Britain Jr. Canes is a part of the Connecticut Youth Football & Cheer League and American Youth Football.

New Britain Hurricanes Youth Football & Cheerleading has also announced that, “The Jr Canes Dance Team has competed and won both CTYFC Div 14 FIRST Place Champions and 1ST Place AYC CT STATE CHAMPIONS and are eligible to compete at the National Championships in Florida!”

In addition, the organization has announced that there will be a “Dance and Football Social” to raise funds for travel for its teams to the national competition. The event is to be November 29, 2019, from 5:00pm to 11:00pm. It is to be held at the VFW at 41 Veterans Drive.
Tickets for the event are $10.
New Britain Hurricanes Youth Football & Cheerleading has also announced that the Jr Canes’ 10U team won their regional semifinal game against Worchester 12 to 7. The team is to compete in the Regional Championship game on November 24th.
