Diaspora to Hold Rescheduled Latin Night for Puerto Rico

On a rescheduled night, the Diaspora Multicultural Society and Rep. Bobby Sanchez (D-25) are holding an event to benefit the people of Puerto Rico after the recent earthquakes.

The “Latin Night for Puerto Rico” is to be Friday, January 24, 2020 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. It will be held at the Diaspora Multicultural Society.

The event was originally planned for Saturday, January 18th, but was rescheduled due to the weather.

“Our Puerto Rican brethren need us after recent earthquakes have left hundreds of thousands without power and in crisis,” says the Society. All proceeds from the event are to go to earthquake relief in Puerto Rico.

“We are working with State Representative Robert Sanchez to make sure all funds raised go to reputable organizations,” says the Society.

Admission to the event is for a $10 minimum donation.

The event will feature music by DJ Bryant and food. “Put on your dancing shoes,” says the Society, “and join us while we channel the Puerto Rican spirit of strength and resiliency.”

The Society has said that,

Diaspora is the first social club of its kind. Our focus is specifically on multiculturalism and bringing a diverse crowd together to commingle and build community. We respect and value the fact that our differences add spice to our lives.

“Come visit Diaspora, a club with a purpose!” the Society says.

The Diaspora Multicultural Society is located at 90 John Street.
