NBMAA Family Day for Presidents Day

The New Britain Museum of American Art (NBMAA) is holding a Family Day at which, “Children and families are invited to learn about President’s Day.”

The event, which the Museum says is held in with Arts for Learning CT will be, “all about American history.”

The event is to be on Monday, February 17, 2020, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at the NBMAA.

The Museum says that admission is, “Free with Museum admission,” and, “Free Museum admission for New Britain residents.”

Activities include, “Monica Peterson’s Storytelling Presidents and Patriots,” from 12:30 to 1:15pm, “Carol Glynn’s The Constitution” from 2:00pm to 2:45pm, Art Cart from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, “Presidential Silhouettes & Weaving” from 12:00pm to 4:00pm and “Create Space open all day with crafts and First Lady accordion books!”

“Peterson,” the Museum says, “will regale audiences with true tales about President George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and American patriot Sybil Ludington for Pre-K–6 year olds.”

The Museum says that, “Glynn’s engaging presentation on what the constitution is, why it was created, and what that means today is energetic, respectful, fun and geared towards 4–6 year olds.”

The NBMAA says that it,

is the first institution dedicated solely to acquiring American art. Spanning four centuries of American history, the Museum’s permanent collection is renowned for its strengths in colonial portraiture, the Hudson River School, American Impressionism, the Ash Can School, as well as the important mural series The Arts of Life in America by Thomas Hart Benton. The singular focus on American art and its panoramic view of American artistic achievement, realized through the Museum’s extensive permanent collection, exhibitions, and educational programming, make the New Britain Museum of American Art a significant resource for a broad and diverse public.

The New Britain Museum of American Art is world class museum, located at 56 Lexington Street, adjoining New Britain’s historic Walnut Hill Park.
