School Board Votes to “Work Through” April Break

The New Britain school district has announced that the Board of Education has, “voted to work through the scheduled April break.”

The Consolidated School District of New Britain said that it, “just began phase two of learning during the extended closure and decided to continue learning in an effort to keep the momentum going.”

The school district also says that, “staying open allows the Meal Distribution Centers to remain open. Many New Britain students are dependent on the Food Distribution centers.”

The decision, according to the school district, was made at the Board of Education’s April 6, 2020 meeting, saying that, “it was not an easy decision to make.”

The school district says that, “The five days will be given back to staff and families in June with the last day of school moving up to be Friday, June 12.”

NBHS graduation, the school district says, is still to remain the same. According to the 2019-2020 School Calendar currently posted on the district’s website, is June 22nd.
