Council to Hold Hearing on HUD Funds Allocations
The New Britain City Council will hold a call-in hearing on proposed allocations of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The HUD funds are federal grants that are made available to the city to support community services and housing programs.
The hearing is to be tonight, April 15, 2020, at 7:05pm. The city says that the hearing, “may be accessed remotely by going to www.newbritainct.gov/meeting. You may call the number on the screen and use the access code. This will put you in a queue on hold. When the Council takes you off hold you will have 3 minutes to speak.”
That web page says that, “Call-In Information for 04/08/2020,” is, “1-855-369-0463.” It says, “Enter the participant PIN code: 11303366#.”
“Callers can begin to enter queue 6:45 pm,” the city website says.

The purpose of this Hearing is to offer citizens an opportunity to comment on the City’s proposed 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan for HUD Programs, the Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing, and the Proposed 2020 Annual Action Plan. The Consolidated Plan governs the Federal funds under HUD’s formula grant programs: the Community Development Block Grant and HOME.
Proposed allocations of the HUD grants are made by the city Commission on Community and Neighborhood Development. The Council has the option to make changes to the proposal before approving the allocations and submitting them to HUD.
Just before the hearing on HUD funds allocations, at 7:00pm tonight, there will also he a hearing on programs proposed for approval under the Neighborhood Assistance Act Program, a state tax incentive donation program. That hearing is also to be a call-in hearing, using the same call-in information.
