More Chromebooks to be Distributed to Students
New Britain schools Superintendent Nancy Sarra has announced a second round of Chromebook distribution for students in the city’s school district.
“The second distribution has begun,” said Sarra on an announcement on April 23, 2020.
With the extended closure of school buildings because of the COVID-19 pandemic and teaching being moved online, the need for students to have access to computers and high-speed internet has become acute.
Sarra said that, “Over 2,000 devices were distributed to families in the first round.”
“Families who identified a need for one Chromebook per family for K-8 students, and one each for each high school student,” Sarra said “are receiving personal phone calls this week.”
“We have roughly another 2,000 devices to get to families through the second-round efforts,” Sarra added.
However, Sarra reminded families to ensure that the their contact information is accurate in PowerSchool, saying, “We cannot call you if we don’t have your correct contact information.”
