New Britain Public Pools and Splash Pads Open for the 2024 Summer Season

Editor’s note (7/8/2024): Parks and Recreation has announced that the Willow Brook Park pool is temporarily closed for maintenance, announcing the hope that it will reopen, apparently Tuesday, July 9th or Wednesday, July 10th. In general, Parks and Recreation posts updates on its Facebook page.

The hot summer months of 2024 are here and New Britain city pools and splash pads are open, providing relief from the heat and summer fun.

The city’s three splash pad summer water recreation locations opened on Memorial Day weekend and are to remain open through Labor Day weekend.

The pools in New Britain’s Willow Brook Park Pool and A.W. Stanley Park Pool opened on June 15, 2024 at 1:00pm and are to close on August 10th at 4:45pm.

The three city splash pads are located:

  • Willow Street Park, at 43 Willow Street
  • Chesley Park, at 23 Wildwood Street
  • Osgood Park, at 460 Osgood Avenue

The city pools are located at:

  • Willow Brook Park Pool at 80 Mill Street.
  • A.W. Stanley Park Pool at 2161 Stanley Street

The hours for the city pools are to be:

  • Public recreation swim, from 1:00pm to 4:45pm. The city says, “Must be at least 12 years old or accompanied by a 14 year old or older.”
  • Family and adult swim, from 6:15pm to 7:45pm. The city says that swimmers, “Must be at least 14 years old or accompanied by an 18 year old or older.”

The splash pad hours are to be from 10:00am to 8:00pm and have no admission fee.

The city says that season pool passes, which are for New Britain residents only, are $60 per family and $35 per individual. Daily admission for the pools is $4 for adults, aged 18 or older, $3 for children, ages 6 to 17 and free for children 5 and under. More information is available on the Parks and Recreation website.

In addition, Parks and Recreation has its regular pool party programs at both city pools. The parties are 6:15pm to 7:45pm, and, “Standard admission rates and pool rules apply.” Parks and Recreation says that, “Pool Parties include a DJ Dance Party and pool inflatables. No outside inflatables will be allowed.”

The pool parties at Willow Brook Park Pool are to include:

  • Friday, July 5th, “Theme: Party in the USA Night”
  • Friday, July 19th, “Theme: Pool Olympics Night”
  • Friday, August 2nd, “Theme: Rubber Ducky Night”

The pool parties at A.W. Stanley Park Pool are to include:

  • Friday, June 28th, “Theme: Summer is Here!”
  • Friday, July 12th, “Theme: Christmas in July”
  • Friday, July 26th, “Theme: Neon Night”
  • Friday, August 9th, “Theme: Let’s Flamingle Night”

Two special “Flick & Float” events are planned at the city’s pools. At A.W. Stanley Park Pool on July 12, 2024, the event is to feature “Trolls Band Together.” On August 2nd, the “Super Mario Bros Movie” will be featured at Willow Brook Park Pool. Parks and Recreation says the events, “feature: Inflatable Amusements, Carnival Games, and Concessions.”

Gates at the “Flick & Float”, events, Parks and Recreation says, open at 8:00pm, with the movies starting at 9:00pm, Parks and Recreation says, adding that tickets are $3 per person.

Parks and Recreation also offers swimming lessons, with information about that available on its website.
