Parks and Rec After School Program Applications Open
New Britain Parks and Recreation has announced that applications are open for its 2020-2021 “Every Kid Counts” after school programs.
Parks and Recreation says that its “EKC After School Program” for kids in grades three to five includes, “homework help, academic enrichment, recreational activities, transportation and dinner.”
The program, Parks and Recreations says,
follows the hybrid/cohort school schedule and is offered to students for in-school learning days only. Students following the cohort A school schedule will attend the program on cohort A days; students following the cohort B school schedule will attend the program on cohort B days. The program is not open on half days of school, remote learning days, or holidays/school vacation.
The program is to run from October 12, 2020 to May 28, 2021.
As of September 22, 2020, spots for the program were still available at the Chamberlain, DiLoreto, Gaffney, Holmes, Jefferson, Lincoln, Northend, Smalley, Smith and Vance schools. “Programming will take place in the gymnasium or other large space in the school,” Parks and Recreation says.
The times for the program are advertised to be from 3:10pm to 5:30pm, but the Parks and Recreation website says that the DiLoreto School program is from 2:20pm to 5:30pm.
The program is free, Parks and Recreation says, but is, “Available on a first come, first serve basis.”
Sign-up is available for the program on the Parks and Recreation website.
The Parks and Recreation website also has sign-ups for the, “ERC After School Program,” which it says,
will provide a physically and emotionally safe space for students to complete homework, socialize with friends and participate in enrichment and recreational activities. Each day students will receive a snack and after school meal.
As of September 22, 2020, spots were available for the ERC After School Program at Pulaski and Slade schools.
This program is listed as being from 2:20pm to 5:30pm, and appears to follow a similar cohort system as the EKC After School Program.
