YWCA Holding Online “Evening of Treasures” Auction

YWCA New Britain will hold its 27th Annual Evening of Treasures Auction as an online “Mission: Possible” themed event.

The fundraiser is to feature an event, held on Zoom on Friday, November 6, 2020. The YWCA says that the event, “a Mission: Possible-themed evening featuring entertainment, mingling,” will begin at 6:00pm.

The YWCA is accepting registration at registration website for the event.

While the November 6th event is free to participate in, the YWCA is encouraging people to be a part of the fundraising in support of the organization’s programs.

The Evening of Treasures is a major fundraiser for YWCA New Britain. Funds raised go toward serving women and families through important YWCA programs such as childcare, family literacy, health and fitness, dance and sports, sexual assault crisis services, youth enrichment for middle school girls, and a teen center for high school girls.

The fundraising activity is to include a silent auction, spanning the six days before and during the formal event. The online auction is to be from November 1st to November 6th, and the YWCA says that, “Bidder registration must be done separately. Stay tuned for more details!”

While the event is being held remotely, event participants can enjoy dinner together. The YWCA says that,

On Friday, November 6, you can order dinner from My Wife Didn’t Cook (located at 89 West Main Street, New Britain) to enjoy during the live event, and 20% of your purchase will be donated to YWCA New Britain. Simply say that you’re for the YWCA event when picking up your order. Check out their menu as you make your plans to enjoy the event with family and friends, so you don’t have to cook, either!

The YWCA also says that, “Our annual cash raffle is underway.” The organization has 1,000 $20 tickets available, with chances to win prizes of $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000. “Call 860-225-4681 x212 to get yours while they last!” the YWCA says.

The drawing for the raffle is to be held at the Evening of Treasures on November 6th.

The organization says that,

As one of the oldest and largest women’s organizations in the nation, YWCA has been at the forefront of the most pressing social movements for over 100 years — from voting rights to civil rights, from affordable childcare to pay equity, from violence prevention to health care reform. Today, we combine programming and advocacy to generate institutional change in three key areas: racial justice and civil rights, empowerment and economic advancement of women and girls, and health and safety of women and girls.

YWCA New Britain is located at 19 Franklin Square.
