CCSU to Hold Lecture in Celebration of Poland’s Independence Day

CCSU has announced that it is to hold an online lecture on the Kosciuszko Squadron in a celebration of Poland’s Independence Day.

The virtual event, presented by the New England Air Museum (NEAM) and the Polish Studies Program at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), is to be introduced by words from, “Professor M.B.B. Biskupski, the Stanislaus A. Blejwas Endowed Chair in Polish Studies at CCSU, and include comments by Renata Vickrey, CCSU archivist,” CCSU says.

The event, CCSU says, “will feature Dr. James S. Pula, a nationally known scholar and Professor of History Emeritus at Purdue University Northwest,” adding that Dr. Pula,

will offer background and slides in his presentation titled “For Your Freedom and Ours: The Kosciuszko Squadron in World War II.” Of all the units that fought with the Royal Air Force during the Battle of Britain, the most successful was the 303 Kosciuszko Squadron comprised of Polish airmen who escaped from their homeland after the 1939 Nazi invasion. Join us to learn this story of heroism and international friendship and see how a new exhibit at the New England Air Museum, slated to open in 2021, will honor their memory and their service.

The lecture is to be held Wednesday, November 11, 2020, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

CCSU asks those interested in the event to register by November 10th, “by emailing Ron Katz at [email protected].”
