KIEDC Announces Food Box Program at St. James
Kingdom International Economic Development Corporation (KIEDC) has announced that it will have a pop up food pantry at Saint James Missionary Baptist Church over the last weeks of 2020.
Kingdom International Economic Development Corporation’s CEO Metashar Dillon says that the charitable organization, “is proud to welcome back the Farmers to Families Food Box Program to New Britain.”
The program, starting on November 25, 2020 from 10:00am to 2:00pm is to be hosted by Saint James Missionary Baptist Church.
Dillon says that, “We are so happy that Dan Siracusa, owner of Siracusa Moving and Storage Company answered our 911 CALL to help us with the dire food insecurities in New Britain.”
“The need for food has been overwhelming especially during the pandemic,” said Nicole Rodriguez. “So many people and agencies that service the community are calling on us for help during this season. We have received requests from many elderly, and single parents. We need the community help to meet the needs of the children and the needs of the people.”
The program will be holding a, “pop up food pantry,” at St. James, which is located in New Britain’s North-Oak neighborhood. The organization says that,
For the past few weeks folks have been lining up to receive food and we are elated to announce that the program is back. Due to a food shortage there is only one box per family available on a first come first serve basis. Since the onset of the pandemic KIEDC has fed 50,000 families.
Organizers say that, “Items will be packaged and distributed on Wednesdays through the remainder of the year.” That is to be on November 25th and December 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th, from 10:00am to 2:00pm, but organizers say that, “Distribution is low and is not guaranteed, and supplies will be given out while they last on a first come first serve basis.”
“The distribution pick-up location will ONLY be at Saint James Missionary Baptist Church,” organizers say. Saint James is located at 45 Daly Avenue.
KIEDC says that,
