Jr. Canes Holding Thanksgiving Food Drive
New Britain Hurricanes Youth Football & Cheerleading has announced that the Jr. Canes are seeking donations for its Thanksgiving food drive.
“New Britain Jr Canes Volunteers will be collecting food items,” the youth sporting organization said. “All donations will be going to families in need through the KIEDC Food Box Program in which our very own Coach Eddie and Team Mom Nicole will be leading this cause in helping as many families as possible.”
The food drive will be on Saturday, November 21, 2020. It will be held from 10:00am to 12:00 in the parking lot at Chesley Park. Chesley Park is located at 95 Wildwood Street.
The Jr. Canes are seeking donations of non-perishable items, including canned vegetables, canned soups, canned fruit, dried food, bags of rice, crackers, pie filling, pie crust, snack food, stuffing, chicken broth, turkey gravy, cornbread mix, cranberry sauce, boxes of tea bags, boxes of pasta, pasta sauce, juices or grocery gift cards.
This week, Kingdom International Economic Development Corporation (KIEDC) announced that it will have a pop up food pantry at Saint James Missionary Baptist Church on Wednesdays over the last weeks of 2020, while donations last, starting November 25th, 2020.
The Jr. Canes say that they are, “Thanking everyone for supporting a great cause!!”
New Britain Youth Football & Cheer, Inc., the official name of the Jr. Canes nonprofit organization, has said that its,
primary goal is to develop our youth; who through participation in the program; creating a feeder system to New Britain High School that will focus on the student-athlete as a whole and produce successful community contributors.
