The New Britain Republican Party has announced that Republican Mayor Erin Stewart will seek re-election.
In a statement appearing on its Facebook page, the New Britain Republican Party says that it, “would like to announce that our Mayor, Erin Stewart is officially running as the 40th Mayor of New Britain.”
“Erin is our candidate,” the Republican Party says, “and will be officially endorsed in July.” Republicans say that they are also looking for candidates for other city elected offices.
The Republican Party noted that Stewart held a kickoff event on January 28th.
By that date, three Democrats had already announced that they were exploring running to challenge Stewart.
Rep. Bobby Sanchez (D-25), Democratic leader Veronica DeLandro and community activist Alicia Hernandez Strong have announced exploratory candidacies to consider running for Mayor of New Britain.
