New Britain Public Pools Open for the 2021 Summer Season

Editor’s note (8/25/2021): Parks and Recreation has announced that the city’s pools are closed for the season, but that the city’s two splash pads, at Chesley Park and Willow Street Park, are open until Labor Day, from 10:00am to 8:00pm.

With hot weather here and people looking to enjoy this summer, New Britain city pools and splash pads are open for the Summer of 2021.

The pools in New Britain’s Willow Brook Park Pool and A.W. Stanley Park Pool are open, as of June 19, 2021 for the summer of 2021. City pools typically open after the school year ends, and, this year, the last day of school for the New Britain school district was June 16th.

The city pools are located at:

  • Willow Brook Park Pool at 80 Mill Street.
  • A.W. Stanley Park Pool at 2159 Stanley Street

The city says that the weekday hours at the Willow Brook Park pool are:

  • Regular swim hours, from 9:30am to 12:00pm on weekdays.
  • Regular swim hours, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm on weekdays.
  • Regular swim hours, from 3:45pm to 7:45pm on weekdays.

The Saturday hours at the Willow Brook Park pool, the city says, are:

  • Regular swim hours, from 12:30pm to 4:45pm.

The city says that the weekday hours at the A.W. Stanley Park pool are:

  • From 9:30am to 12:00pm from August 10th to 13th.
  • Regular swim hours, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm on weekdays.
  • Regular swim hours, from 3:45pm to 7:45pm on weekdays.

The Saturday hours at the A.W. Stanley Park pool, the city says, are:

  • Regular swim hours, from 12:30pm to 4:45pm.

Pool passes are available at the city Parks and Recreation Office, which is open Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 3:45pm.

Season pool passes, for New Britain residents only, are $50 per family and $30 per individual. Replacement cards are $5. Daily admission for the pools is $4 for adults, aged 18 or older, $3 for children, ages 6 to 17 and free for children 5 and under. The city says that refunds are not provided, “if the pool closes due to thunder or contamination.”

New Britain Parks and Recreation’s office is located in City Hall, 27 West Main Street, Room 302. Its phone number is 860-826-3360.

The city says that, “Conditions of Admission” include that,

A) Children twelve (12) years of age or older may be admitted to the pool without an escort. Children eleven (11) years of age or younger must be accompanied by a person not less than fourteen (14) years of age.

B) All individuals who are unvaccinated must wear a mask while inside the locker rooms and restrooms.

The city’s two splash pad summer water recreation locations opened on Memorial Day weekend.

The two city splash pads are located:

  • Willow Street Park, at 43 Willow Street
  • Chesley Park, at 35 Wildwood Street.
