Event Provides Backpacks and School Supplies to Kids
The Back to School Backpack Drive and school supply event, organized by Tee Cruz Lavoy, has been called a success.
The event was held to provide backpacks and other schools supplies to kids for the upcoming school year.
Lavoy praised Rep. Bobby Sanchez’ efforts at the event. “Bobby worked so hard,” he said.
Lavoy says that perhaps seventy-five children and parents came to the event. He said that it, “only took 1.5 hours to empty out 145 bags.” He said that when, “we were out of bags we gave school supplies.”
The event was held at OIC of New Britain on North Street on Wednesday.
“We had water on ice for everyone, snacks for the kids,” Lavoy said, “It went well.”
Lavoy said, once supplies ran out on Wednesday, event organizers also directed families to the similar school backpack event tomorrow, Thursday, August 26, 2021, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. That event, led by Pastor Dana Smith, is sponsored by the New Life ll and the North-Oak NRZ. It is to be held at Willow Street Park.
